About the Rep

The Mission of the San Jose Repertory Theatre is to engage, entertain and inspire people. We produce innovative theatrical performances that offer fresh perspectives into the human condition, educational programs that promote life-long learning, and outreach initiatives that benefit our diverse community.

Programs and Services

  • San Jose Rep serves the City of San Jose and the surrounding Santa Clara Valley/Silicon Valley, as well as the greater Bay Area.
  • The Rep annually presents six mainstage shows offering a variety of classic and contemporary plays.
  • The Rep contributes to the growth of theater in America through a variety of new play commissions and development programs.
  • The Rep offers extensive community and educational outreach programs, including Red Ladder Theatre Company, creative dramatics classes, student matinees; and serves as a community resource by making its facility available to other arts and community organizations as possible.
  • The Rep is a member of Theatre Communications Group; the League of Resident Theatres; Theatre Bay Area and the San Jose Arts Round Table; and operates under an agreement between the League of Resident Theatres and Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States; under an agreement with the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, an independent national labor union.
