The Corporate Partnerships Manager

Summary:   The Corporate Partnerships Manager will manage the Rep’s corporate fundraising efforts and trade partnerships.

Part-time, regular, hourly position reporting to the Director of Development.  Approximately 24 hours per week, regularly scheduled per prior arrangement with the Director of Development (DOD) during the Monday thru Friday work week.  May require occasional evening and weekend work.

Compensation and Benefits:  $20 per hour.  Paid holidays, vacation and sick leave on a prorated basis as outlined in the Rep’s Employee Handbook.  Complimentary tickets to Rep performances, as outlined in the Rep’s “Employee Comp Policy.”  Complimentary admissions to local arts activities, as outlined in the Arts Roundtable’s “Reciprocal Ticketing Policy.”  Payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, and worker’s compensation insurance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the Rep’s corporate fundraising efforts:

• Gift solicitation of current, prospective and lapsed corporate donors.
• Conduct telephone and face-to-face gift solicitations.
• Craft written solicitations and sponsorship proposals, adhering to donors’ published requirements.
• Secure gift solicitation appointments for staff and trustees.
• Document solicitation activities and donor research using the Rep’s fundraising database, Tessitura.
• Maintain a complete and accurate calendar of corporate solicitation activities.
• Develop and enhance relationships with the Rep’s current, prospective and lapsed corporate donors.
• Implement a comprehensive stewardship program for corporate donors.
• Coordinate occasional cultivation, stewardship and appreciation events for current, prospective and lapsed corporate donors.
• Coordinate administrative support of corporate donors, including ticketing, event support, and fulfillment of donor benefits.
• Identify and cultivate prospective corporate donors.
• Conduct donor and prospect research using internet-based resources, periodicals and personal interviews.
• With DOD and Development Chair, form a trustee Corporate Fundraising Taskforce to facilitate executive-level relationships with potential funders.
• Work with staff and board Nominating Committee to identify and court new prospective trustees with corporate relationships that could result in new corporate gifts.

2. Manage the Rep’s trade partnerships:

• Work with staff and trustees to identify trade services needed, prospective trade partners, and existing contacts at those establishments.
• Research local establishments identified as prospective trade partners. 
• Establish and build relationships with appropriate contacts at current and prospective partner businesses.
• In person and by phone, solicit trade partnership agreements from current, prospective and lapsed donors, including restaurants, hotels, nightclubs and service providers.
• Craft individualized written benefit contracts outlining terms of trade partnerships.
• Coordinate fulfillment of benefits per partnership agreements.

3. Departmental responsibilities:

Work with the Development Associate to provide accurate and timely reporting on corporate donor and prospect activities and trade partner activities.
• Participate in scheduled meetings, including weekly department meetings, weekly meetings with the DOD, and quarterly company meetings. As assigned, attend meetings and events of the Board of Trustees and board committees.
• As assigned, attend and assist with other Rep special events.
• Other duties as assigned by the DOD and Managing Director.

Qualifications:

• Minimum three years paid experience in fundraising, including at least one year working with corporate donors in a non-profit environment or three years outside sales or marketing experience in a corporate environment and at least one year non-profit board service.
• Minimum one year paid experience crafting funding or sales/marketing proposals, sponsorships and contracts.
• Working knowledge of Silicon Valley corporations.
• Ability to conduct face-to-face and telephone donor meetings and solicitations in a composed, effective manner.
• Ability to meet inflexible proposal deadlines and manage time effectively.  Ability to produce accurate, complete, compelling proposals that conform strictly to requirements set forth by funders.
• Exemplary verbal communication and writing skills.
• Ability to articulate the Rep’s mission, vision and values and present a compelling case for support in a poised manner.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently, in a collaborative work environment.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, internet browsers and fundraising or sales databases.

Customer Service Agent

San Jose Repertory Theatre, located in downtown San Jose, California, is seeking applicants for a part-time position (20-30 hrs/wk) to work in the Box Office for the 2008-2009 Season. Duties include: Processing ticket orders via phone, email, and fax; preparing box office for show days (printing will call…etc.); responding to patron issues; and providing the highest level of customer service. Skills and Qualifications: Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail, as well as the ability to multi-task. Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced and fun environment. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The San Jose Repertory Theatre is seeking dependable, energetic callers to take a role in its onsite inside sales department. Internships

Public Relations Intern

Seeking an energetic public relations intern who has a passion for the arts and is interested in working in the dynamic marketing department for a world-class regional theatre company. 

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the production of the Playbill produced for each show. This may include follow up with artistic staff, proofing and organizing copy.
- Assist with the creation and management of “e” lists and viral marketing.
- Assist with spearheading social networking for The Scene, the Rep’s fun, sophisticated and edgy group of young professionals and other Rep events.
- Assist with writing promotional copy for cross promotions and Rep events.
- Develop and manage external blog entries to promote Rep events.
- Assist with researching media outlets and keeping media lists current.
- Organize and maintain hard copy and electronic media files and clippings.
- Assist with general administrative duties including preparing packets and materials, distributing marketing materials, mailings, event coordination, cross promotions support and filing.

Time Requirement:  A minimum of eight hours a week for at least one semester. A set schedule would be ideal, but we can accommodate some flexibility.

Qualifications:
- A public relations, journalism or marketing student in junior or senior year
- Dependable and mature person with solid journalistic writing and organizational skills
- Familiar and comfortable working on the computer in Word, Excel and on the Internet to conduct research. Experience in Illustrator and Photoshop a plus.

Marketing Intern

Assist with the event coordination of our fun, sophisticated and edgy group of young professionals, The Scene.
- Assist with the creation and management of “e” lists and viral marketing.
- Assist with spearheading social networking for The Scene and other Rep events.
- Develop and manage external blog entries to promote Rep events.
- Assist with the internal and external coordination of cross promotions for the 2007-08 season of six plays. This may include contacting and working with local businesses, corporations, associations and other arts and cultural groups to coordinate targeted promotions as well as interfacing with other departments for support, approval and help as needed.
- Assist with distribution of marketing materials in San Jose and surrounding communities, the creation of signage and the internal design and printing of materials for promotions.
- Assist with general administrative duties including preparing materials, proofing marketing copy, distributing marketing materials, mailings and filing.

Time Requirement:  A minimum of eight hours a week for at least one semester. A set schedule would be ideal, but we can accommodate some flexibility.

Qualifications:

A marketing, public relations, theatre arts student in junior or senior year
- Dependable and mature person with solid organizational skills and strong writing
- Familiar and comfortable working on the computer in Word, Excel and on the Internet to conduct research. Photoshop and Illustrator experience a plus.
