Education & Outreach
Education and community outreach has always been a key part of the mission of San Jose Repertory Theatre. Over the years the Rep’s commitment has grown and matured into a carefully integrated array of programs that enhance the lives and stimulate the minds of young people in our community.
The Rep’s programs are driven by the belief that the arts unleash the imagination and are therefore crucial to the development of mind and soul. Education is a lifelong journey and so the Rep is committed to providing arts-in-education programs for schoolchildren as well as learning opportunities for the community at large.
The results of the Rep’s education and outreach initiatives are impressive. In a typical year the Rep’s education department is responsible for more than 320 days of events within 11 distinct programs at The Rep and in various diverse locations throughout the Bay Area. The Rep annually welcomes more than 25 public and private schools in Santa Clara County to student matinee performances, reaching more than 9,500 school children and young adults.
Accolades for the Rep’s education programs have come from teachers, students, principals and participants, as well as other arts organizations and the government—all of whom recognize the importance and value of what the Rep does for arts education in our community.
