2006-2007 Season: Long Day's Journey Into Night

Jonathan Moscone (Director) is in his seventh season as Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater. He most recently directed the world premiere of Naomi Iizuka’s Hamlet: Blood in the Brain at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco, and As You Like It in Cal Shakes’ 2006 season.  His work at Cal Shakes has earned him Bay Area Critics Circle and Dean Goodman Choice Awards, and his productions of Nicholas Nickleby, Twelfth Night, and The Seagull were all named among the ten best productions by The San Francisco Chronicle, and other area newspapers. His regional credits include Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, Goodspeed Musicals, Triangle Opera, Portland Stage Company, and Magic Theatre. A native of San Francisco, Mr. Moscone earned his MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama before serving for seven years as Associate Director of Dallas Theater Center, where his credits include the world premiere of Karen Hartman’s Alice: Tales of a Curious Girl; a world premiere adaptation (which he co-wrote) of A Christmas Carol; An Ideal Husband; Arms and the Man; and How I Learned to Drive.  He currently serves on the advisory boards of Girls Inc., of Alameda, and Redwood High School in Oakland. He recently served as a panelist for both the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Kimberly King (Mary Tyrone) has played leading roles in theatres across the country such as the Intiman in Seattle, The Aurora Theatre in Berkeley, American Conservatory Theatre, The Berkeley Repertory Theatre, TheatreWorks, the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, Hartford Stage, The Alley Theatre in Houston, South Coast Repertory Theatre, the Ahmanson in Los Angeles, Cleveland Playhouse, Cleveland Theatre Festival, and Portland Center Stage. An accomplished singer, Kimberly has performed opera, musical theatre, jazz and cabaret.  She is married to director/actor Ken Grantham, and lives in the Puget Sound area.

Sarah Nealis (Cathleen) makes her third appearance with San Jose Rep.  She was previously seen as Ms. Poppenghul in Moonlight & Magnolias and as the title role of Iphigenia at Aulis.  Work with other regional theatres includes Nicholas Nickelby at Cal Shakes (Infant Phenomenon and others), A Christmas Carol with Napa Valley Rep (Ghost of Christmas Past), Othello with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (Desdemona), and 4 Adverbs with Word for Word in San Francisco (Helena).  Sarah is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a major in Theatre and Performance Studies and completed the American Conservatory Theatre's Summer Training Congress. 

Paul Vincent O'Connor (James Tyrone) is excited to be making his San Jose Rep debut in this classic American play. Recently, Paul closed a production of Beth Henley's new play, Ridiculous Fraud at The South Coast Repertory Theatre. Other venues he has played include The Hollywood Bowl, The Papermill Playhouse; The Geffen Playhouse, The Old Globe, The Berkeley Rep, Theatre on The Square and 16 years at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Film credits include Seabiscuit and Rikers. Television credits include roles in shows such as Vanished, Felicity, 24, JAG, The West Wing, Cold Case, The Court, ER, X-Files, and NYPD Blue.

Mark Anderson Phillips (Jamie Tyrone) is pleased to be back at the Rep where he was last seen as Stephen Undershaft in Major Barbara.  Recent work includes roles in Salome and Small Tragedy, both with The Aurora Theatre, and Around the World in 80 Days (Fogg) at Center Repertory Theatre.  Other recent work includes Family Butchers at the Magic Theatre and Dolly West’s Kitchen at TheatreWorks.  His many TheatreWorks’ credits include The Grapes of Wrath (Tom Joad), Arcadia (Chater), and Proof (Hal).  Other Bay Area appearances include True West (Austin) and Stones in His Pockets (Jake), with the Magic Theatre, Stories by Tobias Wolff with Word for Word, and The Last Schwartz at Marin Theatre Company.

T. Edward Webster (Edmond Tyrone) is happy to be back at San Jose Rep. Where he last appeared as Proteus Two Gentleman of Verona. Other regional credits include: The Rivals, Time of Your Life, Night and Day and Edward II at American Conservatory Theatre; Our Town, Eurydice, Suddenly Last Summer at Berkley Rep; Lobby Hero, Blue/Orange, at Aurora Theatre; Mystery Plays at SF Playhouse; Taming of the Shrew at Pioneer Memorial Theatre and five years with California Shakespeare Theatre. Mr. Webster holds a MFA from American Conservatory Theatre.
