Volunteer: Volunteer Opportunities
Curtain Call functions as a fundraising arm to provide financial support for artistic programming as well as educational and outreach services. Equally as important, the gift shop serves as a reception and information center for the theatre. With the addition of new, trained volunteers we have an exciting opportunity to meet our customer service goals and increase access to the theatre by the community at large.
Volunteer gift shop associates work evening and weekend performance shifts as well as during weekday business hours. Volunteers enjoy a wide variety of benefits for their service. Volunteer Sales Associates can gain resume quality job experience that can aid them in future endeavors to obtain employment. Because of the ongoing relationship that develops, we are always happy to write recommendations on behalf of volunteers that are responsible to their service commitment. Volunteers are able to watch performances during work shifts or to earn vouchers to bring guests to see wonderful shows.
Volunteer requirements

Training: Training for volunteer sales associates is usually offered on an individual basis, though periodically orientation receptions are scheduled. Following an initial orientation/training volunteers are brought back for additional training shifts as needed to develop comfort in being able to work shifts.
Time commitment: Volunteers are being sought to staff shifts during main stage performances. Weekend matinee shifts start at 1:45 PM on performance Saturdays, and at 12:45 PM on performance Sundays. Evening shifts take place Tuesday-Saturday on performance nights starting at 6:45 PM and on Sundays at 5:45 PM. Performance duties are over following any scheduled intermission breaks (whenever they occur in the performance). The length of the shift is dependant upon the length of the show, but is typically in the vicinity of 3 hours. Weekday shifts are available between the hours of 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, which constitute normal gift shop hours. We ask that volunteers commit to working two performance shifts for each of our seven main stage productions during the season. This works out to be 14 volunteer shifts in a year. Additional shifts are available for those that want to do more. Scheduling is flexible and takes place well in advance of shifts to assist you in planning your time most efficiently.
Requirements: Volunteer Sales Associate operate the cash register and dealing directly with the public so we do require a completed volunteer application which should include two professional references (employers, teachers, etc.) and one personal reference (neighbor, friend). Following retrieval and approval of your application you will be contacted to schedule training shifts.
